Celebrating innovation, culture and tradition in Maritime
If there was an annual Maritime Festival or Symposium that embraced all aspects of maritime, art, history, culture and industry what information would you be looking for? What would you want to see, hear and learn about at such an event? Is there a location in the greater Seattle area you could envision such an event?
From surfing and freediving to a career in the Maritime...
How often would you attend a recurring gathering if the opportunity were available? What location is preferred? (Seattle, Tacoma, Port Townsend, Bellingham, Bainbridge etc...)
What topics would interest you most—either as a listener or a speaker? What is your preferred method of receiving notifications about these gatherings?

ARC
A center dedicated to underrepresented communities in maritime
Picture a building, a center for maritime artisans and laborers alike that was home to the art, history and waterpeople from underrepresented communities here in the PNW?
What if it held endless opportunities for them as well?
What do you imagine in a maritime center that celebrates all aspects of the sea—culture, recreation, and industry—offering something the PNW doesn’t already have?
The Maritime Center, located along the Ship Canal in a historic waterfront warehouse district, will serve as a vibrant hub for maritime artisans, laborers, and communities, particularly those from underrepresented groups. It will offer workshops, galleries, office spaces, and collaborative workspaces, blending past and present architectural styles that reflect the industrial heritage of the area while embracing innovative, sustainable design. The center will celebrate the art, history, and contributions of waterpeople, with a focus on indigenous communities, providing a platform for their stories, craftsmanship, and traditions. In its first phase, the center will open with hands-on workshops, a gallery, and spaces for events and classes, fostering a dynamic community. Over time, the vision will expand to include live-aboard opportunities and temporary housing for visiting artisans, ensuring an ongoing exchange of ideas, culture, and maritime knowledge.
